Computer is a machine and like all other machines it also requires proper maintenance. Without maintenance, PC may flail. Dust, dirt can lead to serious problem to PC like low speed, freeze, random error message, and rebooting automatically. People may don't understand this and hire technicians. But the basic problem is poor maintenance. To avoid these and many like problems, people must have to give attention to the PC. It is like cleaning and organizing your own home. Check the computer regularly to ensure it works well. For proper maintenance of computer, the user must know about the processor used, installed RAM, and also hard drive capacity because these are the terms which help to troubleshoot the problem. The following are tips that help to maintain computer and are well worth the time.

Tips to keep computer running smoothly:

1. Computer must be shut down properly and also never turn off computer switch until the window has shut down.

2. Purchase an UPS (uninterrupted power supply) for personal computer. It keeps the computer from crashing of data during power cut and also balanced low and high voltage occurrence.

3. Any useful data that you can not afford to lose must be save to at least two or three physical drives like external hard drives, CDs.

4. Run defragmanting software at least once in a month. This will help to keep hard drive healthy and also help to prevent crashes.

5. Run a good Anti virus because without this computer could get infected when connected with Internet.

6. Use proper firewall programs if has a high speed Internet connection. It will help to keep PC away from those who want to hijack your computer.

7. When start your computer, do not let a lots of program load up. The reason is they use valuable memory and Windows resources.

8. Do keep 300 Mb of your C: drive free for window to use otherwise the computer will get really slow.

9. Always make an emergency boot disk and when your computer has created some problem, booting it up from the hard drive.

10. Always use computers uninstall utility to remove software which is no more required. Never delete program manually as it may cause problem.

11. Don't save your personal files on the root directory as it may corrupt the root folder.

12. Always keep the working files in one folder for better or fast performance of the computer. Another benefit includes it is easy to take back up at once.

13. Delete all suspicious email without opening especially with the extensions .exe, .com, .vbs, .bat, .mdb, .reg

14. If you download a zip file then after expanding it delete the original zip folder.

15. If your computer is turn on all the time, then must reboot your computer weekly. It helps to reset RAM, and ultimately the speed of the computer is fast.

16. Clean up the temporary Internet files, temp files and other junk files at least once in a month.
